Hypertension and Blood Pressure Monitor for Pregnant Women

This week, I had to make an instant visit with the OB because my feet and hands grew terribly swollen in a matter of days. I thought it was just because of the extreme summer heat but the swelling has reached my ankles, legs, and face. This happened while I was in our province attending my lolo’s wake. The environment was very hot and humid, my family and the elders grew very concerned about how my body is looking. One of my titas told me my face was already lopsided and I was feeling really bad.

Sweat were pouring like falls in the forest and no matter how much I showered, I still end up hot and sticky. My feet, hands, legs, arms, were all in their swollen glory.

I showed these parts to my OB two days ago and she ordered me to get a Blood Pressure monitor. She also told me that I have to put my feet up whenever possible. I rarely do so because of house chores that need to be done, I only get to rest at night starting at 8PM.

Anyway, my blood pressure was normal but still I had to get the BP monitor to see if we will catch a sudden abnormality. This can indicate risk of hypertension during labor. The OB recommended the Omron BP Monitor which I then got from Watson’s for around Php 2,600 ++. Expensive but if it is necessary then we can’t do much about it.

I can feel that I am almost near the finish line as my contractions now have feelings and could hurt a bit. Some guess I will deliver early June. I am not going to guess but I wish my baby and I would be okay no matter what day becomes Ashton’s birthday 🙂
