I have a Muslim friend and she told me that it’s Ramadan season right now. This means that some of them are fasting and she also shared with me how breastfeeding moms are exempted from this, including children and pregnant women. I asked her about Halal food and told her that I actually ate some of it while traveling to Singapore.
Halal literally means permissible, and so Halal-certified food are the food that can be enjoyed by Muslims under the Islamic law. I have the notion that Halal food are clean and sanitary, that animals are butchered in a special way, but I am not an expert when it comes to this.
This is how halalcertifiedfood.com looks like
For Muslim mommies out there, I found a website that has a Halal Food Guide. I actually saw lots of different brands that are familiar to me under the Halal product guide. In the Philippines, some of these brands include Argentina corned beef, Sky Flakes, and Tang juice drink.
There’s also this coffee brand called Liven which I found tasty as well. Our neighbor once gave samples to us and I liked it so much yet I don’t know where to get them. I read in one article how being Halal certified increases the sale of some products.
The website also includes information about Ramadan and a health guide. This is important because even though I am Catholic, I have friends who are newly married to Muslims and these will guide them this Ramadan season.
