Pregnancy: Mommy’s Calcium Needs Before and After Pregnancy

While pregnant, I took Anmum milk everyday and finished off whatever was left after delivery. But I didn’t continue drinking milk after that. Who has time to do so during the baby’s first few weeks right? But a week after I gave birth, my tooth cracked and gave me a terrible toothache.

Going to the dentist was not an option because I just gave birth and people were telling me I’d get binat. I depended on Alaxan to get me through but finally had my tooth continue its root canal procedure. Just weeks after that tooth was fixed, I got another crack on another molar tooth.

Are my teeth turning into chalk? I could feel micrometers of the tooth crumbling down like one. Then I heard fellow moms who just gave birth are having the same ordeal. What we forgot was how we need calcium more, even after birth.

Recently, Unilab Nutritionals launched Athena, the country’s first and only milk brand that understands women.

Athena promises more benefits than any other skimmed milk brand in the Philippines by offering Beautrition – a combination of beauty and nutrition that gives women a triad of benefits to help them win their everyday battles:

  • Beautiful Skin. Athena provides anti-oxidants (Vitamin A, E & Zinc) to help women’s skin become healthier and more beautiful.
  • Strong Bones. Athena is high in calcium to help strengthen women’s bones.
  • Slim Figure. Athena is low in fat to help women maintain a slimmer figure.

Athena is available in leading supermarkets, groceries and drugstores nationwide. I have two boxes of this in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate. I hope it does make my bones stronger so I don’t end up with osteoporosis.

Mommies, what are your sources of calcium and do you still drink milk everyday?
