The changing weather is to blame for the on and off baby colds of my one year old. In the olden days there are not so many things that parents can do to make babies feel better. The image of sleepless nights and hours of crying and wailing is scary but there is no need for that. Introducing my new bestfriend and Ashton’s worst enemy- the nasal spray.
If not for Ashton’s ultra-savvy pediatrician, I wouldn’t have known we have such available in the pharmacies. As a child, I never used one and it wasn’t popular way back. The spray actually contains natural sea water that should wash away nasty mucus and help babies breathe more freely. I searched for this information using my friend’s htc incredible s phone.
Just point the nozzle to your child’s nostril and spray. Make sure his head is turned sideways. Yeah I wish it were that easy. Ashton gets crazy just at the sight of this bottle so you may have to enlist an extra pair of hands to help you get this done. Prepare a soft cloth or tie a bib because all slimy stuff would be flowing out right after.
You can use Sterimar, that’s the brand, up to 4 times a day. I just use it in the morning when I know there’s a build up of nasty stuff inside my baby’s nose when he has colds.
Aside from this, I have an airoma where I diffuse eucalyptus oil with. Works wonders!
Sterimar is available in Mercury Drug and for about Php 500-600. I too was surprised with the price but this is from another country and the sea water has traveled a lot to get here.
