Cheap and fun places for the family

Free and cheap does no longer rhyme with fun in my vocabulary. After all, I’ve been to so many “free” activities in my past blogging life that I know free will always have a trade off and it’s usually time, convenience, and comfort. Especially with weekdays laden with work and stress from running a home, we don’t like to take chances of a rotten weekend when it’s only two days and comes only after 5 days. Yeah!

I think it’s great to have quality time with the family but I need to be reminded not to overspend. Here I rediscover cheap and fun places that you (mommy) and your family can enjoy:

Market! Market!

Say good bye to hourly playtime fees and (no need to buy kiddie buy silver coins) because this mall features a vast and totally FREE playground for your kids. You can also enjoy marketing for your weekly supply of bread, fruits, and vegetables inside the outdoor market. If it gets too hot in al fresco areas, you can always go inside the mall for a break. This mall has plenty of affordable food choices as well as novelty shops that are fun to look at (i.e. Saizen and Japan Home Center). Another plus is how this area is interconnected with Serendra and Bonifacio Highstreet where your family can enjoy a stroll.

Salcedo Park and Weekend Market

Host a picnic and let your kids enjoy the FREE playground and park. You don’t have to buy all your food from the weekend market, bring sure-fire foods for the kids (one you know they will surely eat) – this will save you time from scouring kiddie friendly meals. Bring jugs of water, plates and utensils so you can share your food hauls from the stalls. They also sell fresh fruits and it’s refreshing to eat mangoes under the shade of trees – bring a small knife to serve 🙂 Also bring your green bag, you can also do your marketing here especially for cooked food you can freeze later on if you are a busy mommy.

Be sure to be early to beat traffic, market runs from 7am to 2pm but the park is always open.

This coming weekend I plan on bringing everyone to Ace Water Spa, an indoor swimming facility but I am not sure if the fees will prove practical (4 hours swimming time, no cameras allowed). It’s summer and I want Ashton to enjoy a dip in the pool – what do you think?
