Ashton and I often wondered when Dreamplay is open to kids and how we can go. I see tickets being sold in SM Cinemas so I thought you can’t just walk in the theme park. Fast forward to last week, my niece Anya from Australia came home and it was my opportunity to bring both her and Ashton to Dreamplay.
I first called the number from their website to know if the park is open and if we could buy tickets from the venue. Yes we can! It was a weekday so we enjoyed the cheaper rate of P380 for kids (2 hour pass) and P210 for adults (2 hour pass).
We tried the following attractions:
Kung Fu Panda Dojo – it’s like a huge iPad game with a detector where you need to follow Po and his Kung Fu moves to score. Ashton and Anya enjoyed although there were times that the screen will say “player lost” which means the player can’t be detected even if they stay on the correct spot. It’s a good warm up for other attractions to enjoy.
Shrek’s Swamp Stomp – we enjoyed this the most. My sister and I accompanied the kids to the tree house to try and find the keys. Anya figured there aren’t real keys but gadgets where you need to tap your RFID bracelets for points.
This activity can get really physical, read: hanging bridges, rope tunnels, and other obstacles that are really challenging and fun. I felt like I was getting my workout!
Anya who is now 12 said “this is really fun” and she’s not easy to please. Right here in the swamp stomp, we’ve created exciting & bonding memories that I hope she will bring with her to Australia. We only see each other every 2 years.
Ashton on the other hand was scared to try the obstacles so my sister Joni went with him to find an easier way out.
Re: points, it was a little disappointing not to be told of our collected points after the attraction and upon exiting Dreamplay. I wonder if there’s a spot for this or let me know via comments how to do it right?
It would be awesome if kids can know their scores and be rewarded with any token at all.
Whatever floats your boat – think lego bricks plus the chance to float your creation in water. Ashton loves anything that requires building. The boat was a little complicated for him though (he is just 5) so I helped him out. Anya who is 12 was able to build her own boat.
They had fun following their boats in the miniature river where they also had to pump and steer their boats in the right direction.
Dinotrux – this is a simple but big attraction. Go up the stairs and you can pilot the dragon heads to your desire.
Gingy’s Kitchen – this is the second best attraction to Shrek’s Swamp Stomp. You do have to reserve your kids first to attend the class. Be there early and have your kids names listed down.
In this attraction, kids are taught how to bake a gingerbread cookie. The kitchen is complete with a bakers hat and an apron. We really got in the mood to bake, plus the kitchen smells very yummy. After the class, the kids can enjoy eating their creation in Gingy’s Cafe.
Dream Theater – we loved the 4D perspective of the theater were we saw Dreamworks characters in a different light. You’d think they are just right in front of you! Unfortunately, the seat effects did not work during our turn. We were asked to come back but having only 2 hours to stay in the park, we just went along.
Ashton was happy though and said he thought he could touch the 4D objects 🙂
Dream Studio – I was not with the kids here but my niece Anya said it was okay. She was expecting multimedia arts level of activity. Ashton on the other hand enjoyed animating his own cartoon, so I guess this is best for younger kids like him.
My sister said Ashton won’t get up and leave the screen and was oblivious that the class has ended. He was that interested.
There are more attractions in Dreamplay, we only chose a few since we wanted to save money and only stay for 2 hours.
Maybe next time we can enjoy the other half of Dreamplay including their cafe. I took photos for everyone to see:
Overall it was very much worth the price we paid for. There are other kiddie places in town that ask for grander fees but Dreamplay delivers in terms of fun, interactivity, and convenience.
We will definitely be back when Ashton is braver, bigger, and stronger to conquer all the challenges! Then maybe Mommy & Daddy can have a date inside the City of Dreams too 🙂
