We had a relaxing staycation at Discovery Suites two weeks ago, the hotel is running a 50% off promo for the whole month of August. For our staycation at Discovery Suites Ortigas, we chose the one bedroom suite called “Serendipity” which from Php 9,000+ is now just Php 5,900 nett.

Discovery Suites Ortigas’ Serendipity Suite features an entertainment, dining, kitchen areas; one bedroom with twin beds, and a huge bathroom with both bath tub and shower.
Mothers like me will appreciate the sponge and dishwashing liquid provided by the hotel. We usually take out from nearby restaurants and/or eat our leftover takeaway meals inside the hotel. So I am very happy to find plates, utensils, a microwave oven (they even provided a lid for reheating food), a drying rack for the dishes and a kitchen towel.
There’s also a convection oven complete with pots, pans, ladles, and Masflex knives. Since it’s a staycation and I wanted to relax, I didn’t cook inside the room but just spent my time with my son & spouse.
My son liked watching his Disney Junior shows in the living room which also has a nice view of Ortigas as well as a couple of comfy sofas to lounge in. I imagined calling my girl friends in to hang out with for the night. The suite is very spacious, enough to entertain 2-3 more visitors.
The bedroom has its own TV and for privacy, it has its own door you can shut especially if you have guests coming over. We loved how huge the twin beds are, it’s more like having two king beds in one bedroom yet there’s still plenty of space for our personal luggage.
Perhaps my favorite part of Discovery Ortigas’ Serendipity Suite is the bathroom where I enjoyed organizing my personal beauty & hygiene products into the built in shelves. Usually all my stuff gets wet in hotels especially when there’s little space for personal belongings. Inside this bathroom, you have a place for everything like there’s a proper toothbrush holder and the hair dryer is properly attached to the wall, you can easily use it.
So in the bathroom, I enjoyed the overhead shower with consistent temperature, using the hair dryer which I don’t usually do, and just plain taking care of myself and cleaning up well.
My son enjoyed the bubble bath and for a change, we didn’t need to request or ask if the hotel has a bubble bath liquid soap. This is readily available inside the bathroom and it does really foam up. Thanks to the bath tub I had an hour of peace while Ashton enjoys playing in the water.

Balance Fitness Gym
This is Discovery Suite’s gym which is called Balance Fitness. I worked out twice during my stay and of all the equipment enjoyed the leg press, treadmill, and elliptical the most. It can be intimidating walking into a different gym than you go to, but the staff readily offered a tour of the facilities – including shower, sauna, and locker room.
You’ll notice the quality of their imported and branded gym equipment, although I think some like the chest press equipment are too big for Asians like me. However it wasn’t a big problem when there are plenty of free weights and benches you can use as an alternative.
After my workout, I was surprised to be offered a free banana or cookie. There’s a science behind this but I chose the banana. They also have water and coffee making facilities.
Discovery Suites Playroom
While working out, I sent Ashton and his dad to the playroom. I love when hotels provide a room for kids to play in.
This one had Nintendo Wii which Ashton enjoyed playing. The staff inside the playroom also serves snacks and drinks to both kid and guardian.
Restaurant – Breakfast Buffet
Discovery Suite’s breakfast buffet isn’t the grandest but they have everything you can expect from a Filipino and International breakfast.

Love that you can not only order the regular coffee but also opt for a coffee latte. For kids, the kitchen is ready to serve warm or cold milk and fresh fruit juices.
Location
Discovery Suites Ortigas is located at 25 ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, 1605, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is walking distance from The Podium, SM Megamall, and Shangri-la Mall. Do you like the feeling of enjoying the mall and not thinking about the traffic after? I do! So during our stay we visited the malls quiet a lot and took advantage of living in the city for the weekend.
