2017 Christmas Home Decorating Ideas | SM Home

Decorating your home for Christmas is easier when done earlier. That’s my motto for this year and in fact, have started pulling out small decors one by one to hang on doors, place atop tables, etc. Christmas decorating can be overwhelming and at first glance, can be an enormous task for any mom.

My son and I have started a series of decorating every night, before we go to bed. It will eventually lead to bigger decors like the Christmas tree, but even that can be broken into a series of tasks instead of doing it in one blow. What’s even better is if you get the right inspiration, such as looking at or even adding these Christmas decors from SM Home.

There are also more than 500 Holiday ornaments to choose from, modern expressions of traditional holiday trimmings have an artisan touch that celebrate all that is creative and classic. With probably the widest assortment of décor in town, SM Home shares with us some tips of how to bring the holidays to our homes.

  • Classic Charm. Create a cozy and casual holiday living room with classic reds and greens that never go out of style. Add shades of white to create a refreshing theme, and don’t forget a bit of sparkle for added flair. Nutcracker toy soldiers, potted poinsettias and Christmas trees, carousel and candy cane ornaments, show globes, and miniature vintage villages will help showcase a traditional holiday scene at home.

  • Contemporary Luxe. Metallic shades make an elegant and polished holiday look. Mixing silver and gold – with a touch of antique brass and champagne – into your Christmas design adds warmth to your home, but with a luxurious feel.

  • Modern Opulence. Deck your halls with rich royal colors – amethyst, sapphire, tourmaline, and citrine – to create and chic and sophisticated holiday look. Make a beautiful and bold statement with glittering Christmas balls, jester mask ornaments, and oversized finial ornaments with ribbons.

  • Pretty Whimsical. Holiday décor can also be lighthearted and whimsical. Combine pretty pastels – baby blue, creamsicle, cotton candy, and chartreuse- with sweet dessert ornaments – gingerbread, cupcakes, ice cream, and doughnuts – for a playful spin that kids and kids at heart will definitely adore.

The latest Christmas Décor collection is available at the SM Home section at all SM Stores. Also, visit their largest Christmas Décor Display at the SM Home section in SM Makati.

SM Southmall Christmas Launch: Tale of Winter Forest

SM supermalls started lighting up their Christmas trees a few weeks ago, almost simultaneously! We were lucky to witness at least one of them this year while in SM Southmall.

Every year, each SM Supermalls will have different themes and this year, SM Southmall’s activity center was transformed into a magical winter forest – with two magnificent giant reindeers. When we arrived, light effects were not yet on but many shoppers were already taking selfies.

Kami din syempre! Ashton with Mamu Yeyey :)

A few minutes later, the orchestra started to play Christmas songs. The crowd started to gather and were rewarded with a magical short play entitled “Tale of Christmas Forest”.

Our kid really focused and enjoyed the entire play – and for free! The kid actors, actresses were from Stages. Shoppers that afternoon are very lucky. Aside from the story that highlighted the value of kindness, the Winter Fairy (character) also rendered two songs that signaled the official tree lighting.

SM Southmall’s tree is not the usual green, triangle-shaped tree but more of a forest that shoots upward and wide from the center of the supermall. It’s very beautiful and everything, especially the program really promoted the Christmas spirit and feelings of love and giving.

I am really very proud of the Filipino Christmas. SM Supermalls, has been a big part of this grand tradition for many years. It’s not all about shopping but spending time together with our loved ones.

Children from SOS Children’s Villages and Child Haus were the VIPs during the program and all the kids were given a special gift from SM Southmall after the short program.

Here is the announced schedule of Christmas events at SM Southmall:

Oreo, Toblerone, and Cadbury Limited Christmas Edition

It’s only a few days before Christmas and more than ever – it’s harder to get through shopping isles looking for Christmas presents. It’s especially hard to look for last minute Christmas gifts for teachers, officemates, and unexpected Christmas guests.

Oreo, Toblerone, and Cadbury which are top food brands have released their limited Christmas editions for shoppers. I think these make nice & thoughtful Christmas gifts minus the hassle of overthinking and gift wrapping.

The Limited Oreo Selection – contains four Oreo flavors: Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate and Ice Cream Blueberry. Packaged in one special golden tin can.

Toblerone Holiday Gift Boxes
– these holiday gift boxes contain individually wrapped tiny versions of Toblerone Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and White Chocolate.

Limited Edition Cadbury Dairy Milk – the limited edition Cadbury Dairy Milk comes with witty messages like “I can’t think of anything else to give you,” perfectly describing the struggles of a Christmas shopper.

Mommy Lace tip: If you want to avoid being caught empty handed on Christmas by your guests or godchildren (inaanak), it’s a good idea to stock some of these Christmas edition food items. They’re easy to enjoy as a treat and won’t be a problem in case you are still left with some after Christmas.

This Oreo can is beautiful, it begs for a nice photo by the Christmas tree. Here’s one I took with the first Oreo selection we got.

My favorite is the Limited Oreo Selection, I tried one tin can first which my son and I enjoyed beside our Christmas tree and with a glass of milk. I am getting some more as emergency Christmas gifts for visiting family & friends. Christmas shouldn’t really be about rushing and stressing but the spirit of gifting and caring :)

Home & Living: 2 Days Before Christmas | Christmas Plans

I must say this holiday season is coming by quickly. Two days left and Christmas 2010 would be spent. This time, I’ve overhauled our Christmas plans because of the many changes that happened this year. On top of the list is my very special gift – my baby boy Ashton who is turning 7 months old this 24th.

This is the first-ever Christmas decor I purchased. Available at Hobbes and Landes, this mini-fireplace can be personalized by hanging socks which you can write names on. Anya, my niece and Ash for Ashton :)

Aside from the Christmas hats I am obliging everyone to wear, I will skip on spending much time in the kitchen. We’ve agreed to buy take-away dishes on the morning of 24th and just reheat everything during Christmas eve. This way, less dishes to wash, less time in the kitchen, and more time to enjoy with everyone. That includes picture taking and getting ready to go to Church.

Last night, I took my mini family together with my sister Liza and Aunt Helen to Ayala Triangle Park for the Christmas Lights show. I’ll blog about it separately to hopefully, give you tips on how to spend your time there :)

I just can’t believe Christmas is soon to be over, don’t you wish it’s Christmas everyday?
