Christmas French Fine Dining at Impressions, Resorts World Manila

A quiet French Fining Dining gem in Maxims Hotel, Resorts World Manila where you can enjoy private, luxury fine dining with exceptional service that truly impress.

Experience and taste something different this Christmas season at Impressions in Resorts World Manila. Impressions is a French fine dining restaurant located at the 3rd floor of Maxims Hotel where you can enjoy the  Impressions Christmas Special set menu created by Chef Cyrille Soenen, the first and only Master Chef of France in the Philippines, and also the Director of Culinary Arts for Resorts World Manila.

Impressions Christmas Special

The Impressions Christmas Special is a sit down dinner with an elegant four-course set menu. It’ll be available from December 23-25 only at a special holiday rate of P2,500++.

Appetizer: Pork Terrine with Cherry Compote

The dinner starts with this Pork Terrine with Cherry Compote that serves as an appetizing beginning. Pork Terrine is a French forcemeat loaf similar to a pâté. It is served with crostini and on the side, is a very light Apple and Herb Salad with Cherry Puree.

It was my first time to eat a French Pork Terrine, it is similar to embutido but with a lighter taste and coarser texture that makes it a good companion for toasted bread. I wasn’t very excited with the Cherry Compote at first, but this preserve went very well with the Terrine. The natural sweetness of cherries and its creaminess complimented the savory texture of the pork.

Even my kid loved it and it was a very interactive plate to start our special dinner.

The next entree is the Spiced Pumpkin Soup with Fennel. This isn’t just an ordinary pumpkin soup, it is served with Foie Gras Mousse (oh yes) that transforms this dish into a different experience.

Your bowl arrives with the Foie Gras Mousse and the actual pumpkin soup is carefully poured onto the mousse. It was a delight and a luxury to experience, the soup smells and tastes like Christmas.

Spiced Pumpkin Soup with Fennel

The main entree is Impressions’ Braised Beef Brisket and Mushroom Gratin. It is more than just a slab of meat or an ordinary steak. This beef is cooked French-style and for over 5 hours to achieve the authentic French taste and tenderness.

Main:  Impressions’ Braised Beef Brisket and Mushroom Gratin

This dish’s portion and serving is so generous, I only managed to eat half of the delicious, savory, and ultra-soft, easy-to-chew beef. You’ll appreciate the mushroom gratin that compliments the meat flavors with its soft, starchy, and creamy flavor. I can only imagine how wonderful this braised meat would be with rice!

Desserts and Mignardise

Dessert is a festive Raspberry Panna Cotta with Red Crumble, Raspberry Spiced Ganache, Coconut Lady Finger, and White Chocolate Vodka Ice Cream. You can request for Vodka to be omitted from your ice cream especially if dining with young children, like my son for example.

My favorite among the assortment of desserts (and these are all for just one person) is the White Chocolate Vodka Ice Cream. It was also my first time to enjoy a French Mignardise. I didn’t even know how to pronounce it (min-yar-dees) but basically, a mignardise is a “bite-sized, pretty dessert that’s served at the end of a meal”.

Sharing the mignardise and talking about which dessert to pick from red and green macroon, ube cannele, to ginger spiced pralines made the dinner more social and engaging. It was such a break from the demands and lure of modern technology.

Get Discounts to Paw Patrol Live Tickets in Resorts World Manila

Paw Patrol is one of the popular kids cartoons on cable TV. My son started watching it when he was 4 years old and I’m sure many mommies like me watched it too (it’s mandatory!). Paw Patrol still airs on Nickelodeon with fresh new episodes. These days, my son and I watch it while having breakfast every morning.

The story revolves around a boy named Ryder who leads a pack of rescue dogs known as the PAW Patrol. Kids can pick up the value of team work, humility, and proper problem solving.

PAW Patrol Live in Manila, Philippines

I didn’t know about this show until my son and his best friend made a plan to beg me for tickets. They drew “We want to watch PAW Patrol” and they explained to me what and when the show is going to be.

Watch this video: PAW Patrol LIVE in Manila

Ticket prices start at P2,400-P4,200 and since there are two of them, plus I need to supervise them that means 3 tickets for all of us. Just imagine me scratching my head. But our kids are only young once and I want to cherish these live show moments. See: We watched Hi-5 in Manila at Resorts World.

Easter Barnyard 2017 Experience at Resorts World Manila

Easter has become a fun and spectacular celebration for kids, especially with malls around the metro that host Easter Egg Hunts, costume contests, and magic shows. Easter Sunday can easily become a busy day for mommies looking for the best venue and activity for kids to enjoy the Easter celebration.

We chose Resorts World Manila’s Easter Barnyard Adventure as it is the most visible and talked about online. I even shared the poster to my excitement and to let even more mommies know! Come Easter Sunday which was a partly cloudy day, it was tempting to stay at home but the new Skyway also known as NAIA Ex makes going to Resorts World Manila such a breeze. Buti nalang at hindi kami tinamad!

Kids Easter Celebration at Resorts World Manila

This review might be helpful in deciding where to spend your Easter Sunday in 2018. Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila is a top choice for Filipino families as a lifestyle and leisure destination. The shops are family friendly with mid-range restaurants, even fast food options. There’s always something going on at the Activity Hall for everyone to watch & enjoy especially on weekends.

It pays to read the mechanics before going on this Easter Adventure, I downloaded the Resorts World app first and showed a P2,500 receipt. We ate at Annam Noodle Bar and bought takeaway to reach the purchase requirement. We presented it at the booth and got a ticket to enjoy the Easter Barnyard Adventure!

Super sulit with the many booths that you can claim goodies from. Parent and child are both given activity cards with different stubs attached. The kids enjoyed free snacks like Tender Juicy Hotdog, Gardenia bread, Country Style donut, Eggnog snacks, and the most popular that day was the giant cotton candy!

There was a small skit and singing and dancing followed by a mysterious and enthralling magic show. There were also fun games in between.

Activity booths like cookie decorating (sadly McCormick ran out of cookies for us to decorate) and face painting were also available.

I noticed how Resorts World also quietly included kids from charitable organizations and treated them like royalty during the event. Good job Resorts World! They had the best seat in the house and I’m sure these kids enjoyed the event as much as my son did, maybe even more :)

Overall we made the right decision to celebrate Easter Sunday at Resorts World. Everything was organized, safe, and secure that it was also fun for mommies like me.

Like and stay tuned on Resorts World Manila Facebook Page, this is where I get to know what’s up for families and kids such as free activities like this. You can also download the Resorts World Manila mobile app.

Happy Easter Mommy and Baby!

Annam Noodle Bar at Resorts World Manila: A Taste of Vietnamese Food

Are you a fan of delicious, fresh, and healthy Vietnamese food? We are! And I know that there’s only a few Vietnamese restaurants in the city to choose from. The good news is Annam Noodle Bar just opened in Resorts World Manila.

Annam is brought to the Philippines by the popular NamNam Noodle Bar in Singapore. The only difference is the name they had to use for the Philippines but it’s the same delicious Pho, Banh Mi, and Vietnamese Rice Meals inspired by the old-world Vietnamese street food with a modern twist.

What to Order at Annam Noodle Bar

While it’s easy to order the usual fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce dip, Annam Noodle Bar restaurant’s interior style and feel are very encouraging to try something new.

It’s easy to imagine that you are in a different place and must take your appetite to a new adventure.

Annam’s menu is exciting with all the choices of appetizers, banh mi sandwiches, pho noodle soups, and Viet desserts too!

Selection of Viet street snacks, nước chấm, P280 – this sampler is recommended to enjoy as your appetizer. It’s good for sharing and has at least 4 kinds of fried rolls. The dip is delicious but you can customize with Annam’s signature fish and hoisin sauces.

Lemon Grass Ginger Iced Tea P150 – the drink is super fresh, herb-y, and reminds me of my favorite ginger tea or salabat. I like that it’s not made too sweet and is very light to enjoy with the all the dishes.
