We had our summer outing earlier than usual, I pushed to go to Munting Buhangin resort in Nasugbu Batangas. The beach is clean, affordable, and in late February – the crowd was still thin.

Entrance fee for the day tour is Php 200 per head, including children. You also have to prepare P500-1,000 for the gazebos you intend to use during your stay. They have overnight options but to save money, we decided otherwise.

You can bring in food without any corkage fees. We brought 2 pcs. of lechon manok and rice for lunch and snacks. My motto was the less we bring, the less hassle and stress we’ll have in cleaning up. At Munting Buhangin, they have a medium sized sari-sari store where you can buy other snacks and an assortment of icecreams like Magnum and Cornetto. They also have a restaurant but dishes range from P400 and up.

The beach is about 2 hours from our place in Cavite but we left at 6AM. It’s better to leave earlier to avoid more vehicles and arrive just after sunrise. We took the Kaybiang Tunnel in Maragondon. Expect to travel across Mt. Palay Palay – it will feel long but the view is worth the effort, not to mention the beach at the end of your trip.

Gas up because you won’t find any gas stations in the mountains, there is one just after Pico de Loro called Mt. Pico gas station.

Back to the beach, the sand is very fine and I have been in Boracay and the sand is comparable. Water is also clear and clean when we went. There isn’t anything floating even seaweeds cannot be seen – there are plenty of fish you can swim along with and friendly baby crabs on the sand.

I want to point out that come peak season, it really is the people who pollute the beach with trash (especially unsupervised children). Don’t be surprised to see floating trash if there are a lot of people swimming. You can blame them not the resort or the beach itself (Sorry I get carried away).

Since the sand is fine, children are able to play along the shore. Just like my son Ashton who met several new friends of the same age. We let them borrow our plastic pail, scoopers, etc. I did not see any life guard actively supervising so take care of your children and just take turns with your spouse swimming if there’s only the two of you.

We brought other relatives including my mom, aunt, and sister who made it easier for me and my husband to sneak some me-time at the beach. We swam from 10AM up until around 3PM. The weather was very nice and my husband even got to fly his kite. So do bring your toys to keep you active during your summer outing. I always bring my goggles and wear my rash guard so I am ready for any activity. Ashton is always ready with his toys too.

Watch out for seafood vendors on boats. They sell anything from tuna, lobsters, squid, and more. The prices are really cheap like a whole tuna for just P300. I advice not to haggle when you know you already have a deal, it’s not easy to fish or even to ride a bangka and sell fresh seafood to tourists. I bought tuna and lobster from this lady.

We will come back when summer is over and I wish to experience an overnight in their nipa hut with a grill outside. Perfect for our endless honeymoon 😉
