Sofitel Manila: Chinese New Year 2016

Chinese New Year 2016 falls on February 8 and if you’re looking for a magnifique Year of the Fire Monkey experience for your family, check out Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s Chinese New Year offerings. Here’s a video I took during the Sofitel Manila’s preview.

From February 1-10, enjoy extraordinary cuisine from Chef Michael Tai. Aptly called 10 Secrets to Happiness, Chef Michael Tai’s well-curated dishes is an inspiring presentation of luck, wealth, and prosperity. Even before enjoying the dishes, my eyes feasted on the Chinese inspired buffet and table setting that complement the authentic Asian flavors on offer.

Spiral’s dining hall will be dressed up with classy Chinese and feng shui inspired decors. You and your date or family will be instantly transported and immersed in the Chinese culture and celebration of welcoming a new year – without even leaving town!

My top picks for Sofitel’s Chinese New Year 2016 buffet are:

One of the things I enjoy in Sofitel Philippine Plaza events are the shows they prepare for diners (see Korean Wine Dinner). Attractions like this make you appreciate foreign culture for an authentic dining experience that goes beyond gastronomy.

On February 3 and still in celebration of Chinese New Year 2016, top fashion designer Albert Andrada will showcase the La Prosperite Chinois. Albert Andrada is also the winning fashion designer behind Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach

Chinese New Year 2016 Fireworks Display + Lion Dance Show

What is New Year without a spectacular fireworks show by the Manila Bay? If you want to enjoy the fireworks display at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, make sure to reserve your table on February 7 for a complete and magnificent Chinese New Year experience.

On the same day, February 7 – Sofitel Manila will also treat guests to a Lion Dance show. This is my favorite spectacle every Chinese New Year.

How to Book Chinese New Year Lunch or Dinner at Spiral, Sofitel Manila
Sofitel Philippine Plaza posted this online form on their Facebook Page where guests can reserve/book their Chinese New Year experience. Do take note of the dates I mentioned above if you want to enjoy the fashion show or the fireworks display.

Remember that Chinese New Year is a global celebration not reserved for a specific race. I for one like exposing my son to different cultural celebrations with the goal of learning to appreciate our own culture and in the case of Chinese New Year, appreciate the blessings we received and have a positive, prosperous mindset for the rest of the year.

Happy Chinese New Year Mommies!
