Home and Living: Make Old Baby Clothes Look New with Ariel

I once wrote how recycling baby clothes can save us moms plenty of dough and even help save the environment. While I was pregnant, I collected hand-me-downs from my sister and relatives. Some came from as far as the US. Barely used but some had yellow stains because they were kept and unused for a long time.

Of course, before using – I had them washed but still some looked yellow but I didn’t mind using them. Babies need to be changed a lot with all the spit-ups that should come your way.

Ashton’s hand-me-downs

One of my friends recently shared with me, how she uses this brand of laundry detergent called Ariel. I am sure you have seen the commercials where clothes are on medical carts undergoing experimentation . She likes buying clothes from the ukay-ukay and she swears they look brand new once washed with Ariel.

I was mob number 66

Coincidentally, I saw her too at one of Ariel’s events where us 100 mobs battled our “laundry” wits with 1 expert on anything clothes and laundry.

Which of these two is a new polo shirt?

It was very hard to choose which of these polo shirts is brand new and which is washed by Ariel. In the end, I guessed it right – the polo shirt that looked ironed and whiter/brighter was the shirt washed 10x with Ariel. Compared to the new shirt, it amazingly looked “newer” when washed.

I guessed it right 🙂 The correct answer is B! But if you look closely, A which was washed 10x by Ariel looks newer, cleaner, and brighter!

I don’t do my laundry but I am sure we do not use Ariel yet but after hearing what my friend said about Ukay clothes looking brand new, and with Ariel’s challenge – I think I will give Ariel a try. Buy a pack and give it to the lady who does our laundry.

I also learned a tip on how to remove stains with Ariel. Just moisten the stain with water, rub Ariel on it, and throw it in the washing machine. That way, clothes wouldn’t be submitted to hard brushing, squeezing, paddling – hence, will retain their form and colour. I wonder if I can use the same technique with my stained bags?

If I have known this sooner, or had already interest in “laundry talk”, Ashton’s hand me down clothes would have looked even better. Now it will just be a lesson to preggy moms prepping for their newborn and to us moms on how to maintain the brightness of new clothes and make old clothes feel like new.

I just recommend to wash the clothes of your babies thoroughly with water and veer away from scented detergents as well. I see detergents made especially for babies but have not tried them too. Ashton is fine with the normal detergent we see on the market.

Ariel Sakto Pack 30grams at Php 6.00 is available in supermarkets, groceries and sari-sari stores nationwide. Good buy if you want to try Ariel for the first time 🙂

How about you, what detergent do you use for your laundry or do you have tips to make laundry load lighter?
