Home and Living: Swap and Barter

In the spirit of living with less and saving the earth, I had this thought of swapping goods I no longer use with items that I possibly need. Ashton is growing more active each day and I’ve always wanted a baby fence. Or perhaps, a play pen. I have a hand me down crib but it’s only suitable for babies 1 year below. It is too small now for my boy. One item I no longer use is this baby rocking chair:

Look how tiny Ashton was when we first got it.

The rocker is in pristine condition and I’ll happily swap it with a play pen like this:

This costs $100 is Amazon and is about the same price as the baby rocker I have.

Don’t you wish we have local classifieds that can advertise swapping? I am sure they have this in developed countries. But aside from selling old stuff or exchanging them for something, giving away old and unused baby items like clothes (they easily get left behind in terms of size!) and accessories to those who need it and have little buying power is also tops.

In an ideal world, we can also swap toys that our kids have grown tired with other kid’s toys – they’ll be received as something new without bursting our wallets and destroying the planet.

If you are interested in swapping or anything similar, can you let me know via comments? Together, we might come up with something practical and eco-friendly 🙂
