Johnson’s Mommy Meet Ups

Hurray! It’s Ashton’s first blog event and I had my ways of sneaking him out of the house and into the Johnson’s Mommy Meet Up. The topic was all about lullabies and it was the perfect subject since it is Ashton’s and I’s major activity – night or day.

Mommies and babies at the Jonson’s Mommy Meet Ups at Dome Cafe

Mommies shared their favorite songs to sing to their babies and most of us had the same favorite which is Moon River. I like Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey Hepburn’s version. The lyrics is fitting for both me and Ash because I want to explore worlds together with him and his father.

Ashton was the youngest kid who attended at just 2 weeks old 🙂 All the other kids were also adorable little toddler boys and I enjoyed watching them with their moms. It is interesting how when mommies meet up, they share lots of information, valuable and practical ones that you won’t see online. It is really different when you are already at the reality of motherhood.

Aside from lullabies, storytelling is also helpful for your child’s development

Not only were all attendees moms (and daddy Az) but all of us are bloggers as well. It was such a breather to be there and to interact with knowledgeable moms. We all shared tips on how we put our babies and kids to sleep, then there was a short presentation on the importance of lullabies and talking to babies even when we think they do not understand us yet. Lullabies bring moms and babies closer together and stimulates the baby’s imagination. It would also help their communication skills in the future.

Mommies with Baby Ashton

Of course, aside from lullabies that should be done during their quiet time – there’s warm bath and baby massage that I have discussed here.

Moms told me to enjoy every stage of Ashton, and we also talked about baby blues which made me feel better because it means I am not the only one who is experiencing it. They said babies grow so fast and soon, Ashton won’t be waking up every two hours and would sleep straight through the night.
