The lack of quality Pinoy kiddie shows must be one of the reasons why leading fastfood chain Jollibee created Jollitown. Now in it’s 4th season, that’s right, our childhood bestfriend Jollibee continues to teach cultural values to our children. Ashton and I were present at the Jollitown Season 4 launch and discovered that the new TV episodes tackle familiar issues to our children like losing a tooth, being addicted to games and refusing to play outside (very applicable these days), and genuine friendship.
Jollibee is undeniably a big part of the Filipino culture and as such, I always share my jolly childhood experience with my son today. So here is Ashton discovering Jollitown for himself:
He is intrigued with the magical star wishing well and has mustered enough courage to explore it solo.
There were a lot of little persons that day and they equally enjoyed going around, watching the show, and participating in the game to help rebuild Jollitown. Apparently, Jollitown has been destroyed by Mr. Tomorrow (the future).
I love how this show encourages kids to remember traditional play instead of staying indoors with gadgets the entire day. It is safe to say that the role of technology in our lives must be managed well, especially within the family. Otherwise, no one will have time to nurture relationships and friendships.
Aside from values, Jollitown episodes both feature the English and Filipino language in the correct manner. It is like having a local version of Barney, only Jollibee is an entrepreneur and Barney is just a dinosaur. It will be Ashton’s first time to watch Jollitown on Sunday, the first episode of the season airs at exactly 9AM on ABS-CBN. I have seen a handful of episodes (yes) and I enjoy it so much when Jollibee magically brings out hamburgers, chicken joy, and jolly spaghetti at the end of each story 🙂
Even parents like us enjoyed Jollitown very well just look at Ashton scratching his head. Maybe the Dad ate his Chickenjoy?
