Mommy & Daddy Day Out – Sorry Ashton!

I regularly have a mommy day-out but rarely do we have a “mommy & daddy” one. If we do, it will involve watching a movie and eating somewhere fancy. It’s even more challenging to spend the night with just the two of us but this week, we were blessed with an opportunity to do so! My husband and I attended a conference in Tagaytay at Nurture Spa. I really simple and nice place to retreat for couples like us. Would you believe we were touted as the “happiest couple” during our stay?

We were surprised but if we think about it, my husband and I fight about the pettiest of things and perhaps that’s why we are HAPPY. Not one day passes without an argument and that is why we are HAPPY. Communication plays a great role in marriage and when a person holds back from speaking his or her mind – that’s when trouble begins IMO. After around 7 years together it could be we’re perfecting the art of communication and compromise. I am not saying we’re perfect but that there’s happiness even in imperfection. Our imperfection and differences makes us a unique couple and more and more, I see the reasons why God gave us to each other.

Being married is wonderful and having been blessed with a family and child of our own made life really beautiful. Everyday is a practice though and each day is a chance to mold our family into a happy, caring, and loving one. Just like sculpting an artwork from wood with a utility knife. Couples usually are opposites, just like us. I can’t even put logic on why we chose each other. But that is why husbands and wives are complimentary. If there’s one similarity that is our love for our son. Both of us missed Ashton terribly and I heard our little boy could not sleep whilst we were away.

When I am upset, I just think I have a great family who already loves me no matter what. No matter how I look like, how I smell, or what my achievements are. I am sure you feel the same about your family and bearing this in mind can inject you with happiness and strength, enough for the many challenges ahead 🙂
