How to Replace BDO ATM card

My BDO ATM card has been through a lot of transactions already and the shiny plastic at the back started to peel. I know it would be a hassle going to BDO to replace my damaged ATM card but this week – it simply gave up. The plastic that had the magnetic strip on it peeled away from the card itself. Luckily, this was after I withdrew some cash from the ATM.

I attempted to put scotch tape around the edges to secure the thin plastic with the magnetic strip on it. This does not work and after inserting it to the ATM machine – the screen will say “card cannot be read”.

So today, I finally made time to go to my BDO branch. I was made to line up at the marketing desks (not the ordinary lanes for transaction). I think I waited one hour plus to be called. Finally, it was my turn. Here are some info:

1. BDO card replacement for damaged cards costs P120 – you can ask this to be deducted to your account. Like me, who have limited cash because my card won’t let me withdraw.

2. You will fill up a new BDO card application form

3. Your card with your name on it will take 10-15 days to claim. You will be given a claim stub. If you want your card right away, you will be given a cash card without your name on it and it will be activated after 24 hours. I prefer my ATM card to have my name on it especially when using it as a debit card for identification & security purposes.

4. It will help to have your passbook with you when you request for a replacement of your BDO ATM card. This is where you can find your account number.

I haven’t claimed my ATM card yet and are so excited to get it already. It’s difficult not to have my ATM with me in case of emergencies. So, do take care of your ATM cards and prevent them from being damaged.
