Salted Egg Charcoal Buns of Paradise Dynasty is Worth the Hype!

News flash, the salted-egg yolk trend is not dying out soon. In fact, restaurants like Paradise Dynasty Philippines are trying new ways to incorporate this food trend on their menu. The latest must-try is Paradise Dynasty’s Salted-Egg Charcoal Custard Lava Bun.

Can you already imagine what it tastes like? The bun might look like an ordinary siopao bun turned black but it’s not. The bun has the right softness and chewiness enough to hold the treasure inside that is the rich salted egg yolk custard.

Paradise Dynasty’s Charcoal Custard Lava Bun is served in 3’s for P188. I first tried it as soon as it was served. Caution, the filling can be hot! It is best to poke the charcoal bun so steam from the inside can escape before your first bite. When it’s warm, the salted-egg custard flows like lava.

The custard has the legit salted-egg taste. I like that they remained faithful to what salted-egg flavor should taste like and not added any more to it. It’s sure to satisfy any salted-egg craving in an authentic manner. Walang labis, walang kulang (no more and no less).

The second time I tried the Paradise Dynasty’s Salted-Egg Charcoal Custard Lava Bun is after our meal. The bun had ample time to cool off and I enjoyed eating it this way. The salted-egg custard was not as lava-like and developed tasty curds/solids. It gave the custard a thicker texture, no need to hurry up and gobble it all at once compared to when eating it hot. I enjoyed so much that I ate 2 more Charcoal Custard Lava Buns.

If you want more salted-egg goodness, Paradise Dynasty also recently added the Crispy-fried Crystal Prawns tossed with Salted Egg Yolk on their menu.

Another legit salted-egg experience and you can order this for Php 588. The prawns used are sizeable and juicy. Their crispy yet light coating offers an enjoyable crunchy experience. Plus, these prawns are equally enveloped in generous salted-egg flavor. As if the prawns came from a sea of salted-egg yolks!

At first I thought the serving was just okay until I had one and realized that each salted-egg prawn is very tasty, big, and juicy. Someone like me can be quickly satisfied with just a few pieces. Next time, I will try it with rice.

Where to Try Salted-Egg Yolk Charcoal Buns

Paradise Dynasty is located at S’Maison and recently opened in the new Podium Mall. The restaurant in Podium is the first to launch the salted-egg yolk charcoal buns but these are all available now at S’Maison too.

I enjoyed a few visits at Paradise Dynasty S’Maison already and it’s worth visiting the Podium branch too for a different vibe and experience. I feel like the Paradise Dynasty in Podium has a more casual, business vibe while in S’Maison the feel is little more of family fine dining.

Now that there are two Paradise Dynasty restaurants, you can choose depending on the occasion of your dining or the vibe that you’re currently after.
