Ultrasound at 16 Weeks – It's a boy!

Yesterday, January 16 we’ve confirmed that we’re having a baby boy via a pelvic ultrasound at Medical City. I thought my OB would discourage me again from getting an ultrasound this early, but as she had many patients and I am the 9th on the list – I asked the assistant to request a referral letter for me so I can do my ultrasound while waiting. I even found myself hiding from the OB’s view, much like a student waiting for a teacher’s approval!

Here is our little baby boy, luckily he is awake. Thanks to a hearty lunch from KFC 🙂 The doctors said he is very active and moves a lot.

The procedure made me really nervous. I was thinking if they cannot find my baby because it took awhile for the instrument to stay in place, it was being swirled all over my tummy. Then the doctor who operates the machine kept on pressing buttons with a very serious face, sprinkled with a conversation of medical jargons with her colleague. WHEW.

Then, the head doctor suddenly came in (which made me even more nervous) and had a look. Turns out, she is really the person who points things out on the screen and explains to mommy and daddy.

Above is a longer video of our baby 🙂 Complete with our crazy expressions of happiness. After seeing this video, I reckon that Azrael and I sounded like crazy persons.

Seeing the baby for the first time complete with two arms, two legs, and one head makes a lot of difference. The pelvic ultrasound at Medical City costs Php 1,930 and lasts for around 15 minutes.
