All about baby vaccines / immunizations

While I was pregnant, one thing my husband and I prepared for financially are the vaccination costs. Our friends who are now parents told us that there will be endless number of vaccines, from 5 in 1, anti-pneumonia, anti-measles, DPT, hepatitis, and more!

And they were right. Today, my 2 month old got his fourth vaccination, this time for pneumonia and it cost us Php 5,200. I remember paying for around the same amount for the 5 in 1 vaccine, and the other vaccines wouldn’t be cheaper than Php 2,500. Not complaining here but the point is, this is something new parents should prepare for in terms of budgeting. Unless if you are a millionaire and have a fancy surname.

These immunizations are given monthly during your baby’s check-up. I enjoy going to the pedia with my husband and baby, it’s family time and moment for me. My husband never fails to take the camcorder and take our son’s video whilst he is being vaccinated and frantically wails. We know he will laugh at these videos some day and it will also be great for us to capture every moment of our son 🙂

As a tip, hold your baby’s hand before and while he is being vaccinated. The pedia said this is moral support and the baby will feel a bit more secure with you by his side. Afterwards, rub the injected area to comfort your baby and then carry him in your arms. I do this everytime and Ashton relaxes in less than a minute.

Never miss your baby’s immunizations, it’s better safe than sorry.
