Baby: What Vitamins and Medicines do you give your Baby?

Even before our babies were born, we want to make sure they are getting the proper nutrition. When I was pregnant, I had a buffet of prenatal vitamins that looked like this:

My favorite to take was Obimin which came in cute pink film capsules. It was already a mix of nutrients me and my baby would need. Now that Ashton is out of the womb, these are the vitamins prescribed to him by his pediatrician:

1. Polyvisol – is the classic concoction of vitamins given to babies. My mom said I was also given this in drops whilst I was an infant. Ashton doesn’t like the flavor too much, I find it smelly too. But overtime, Ashton took it without any mess. Remember to give medicines to your baby through the sides of his mouth and in drops, not all at once. Or else, it will all be wasted and become clothes stain.

2. Ceelin – the famous Vitamin C for kids. It was like a miracle to see Ashton taking Ceelin like like a breeze. No problems with giving it to him, I think he even craves for more. This could just be the best tasting vitamin he would encounter, it smells and tastes like candy 🙂

A friend told me that Ceelin is the bestseller of Unilab. They actually have their own plant in Laguna where Ceelin, Dolan, Obimin, and Ferlin are made. I am surprised at how all my medicines came from them without actually knowing it! Funny their commercial too, Unilab ba yan?

3. Ferlin – this is the Iron supplement for kids because after 90 days, our blood which runs inside our babies start to die. The kids then start to produce their own blood and for which they need Iron. I feel this is the most important supplement I am giving to Ashton, I just don’t want him to start looking pale like he has anemia.

One vitamin gaining popularity is Dolan which is Ibuprofen for kids. My friends know I cannot live without Ibuprofen, I take it everytime I have headaches, cramps, etc.

Anyway, now Ibuprofen can be taken by babies with Dolan. It is pain relief for them and is also effective to use when they get fever just like paracetamol. My pedia prescribes paracetamol for pain relief everytime Ashton gets vaccinated, I would ask her about Dolan next time.

I heard some adults take Dolan too, but if you want to take Ibuprofen then I recommend Alaxan for mommies. Solves problems like migraine, back pain, and stiff neck from carrying the baby all day. Now all I need is a colon cleanser that would help me lose weight naturally!

How about you? What vitamins do you give to your babies?
