Home and Living: Homemade Corndogs | Waffledogs

Millennial moms like me grew up with a loving memory of corndogs – hotdogs wrapped in hotcake batter. They are crunchy, tasty, and cheesy! For years I’ve been trying to cook myself homemade corndogs and not until now, I have got the right procedure on how to cook them just fine.

You will need:

1. Hotcake mix – choose which that requires an egg. One step mixes will not be fluffy enough to make a thick batter and crust.

2. Hotdogs with cheese

3. Lots of cooking oil

4. Bamboo sticks

Now let’s start cooking!

1. Prepare the hotcake mix as usual, refrigerate for a few minutes if you have time. Doing so helps the batter become thick and will cling to the hotdogs better.

2. Cut hotdogs in half and sear them with bamboo sticks

3. Dip them well into the batter, just roll them over one by one before dipping them hotdogs into hot cooking oil.

Make sure the cooking oil is warm and ready, if oil is not hot the batter will just scatter inside your pan.

4. Do not touch the corndogs, let them be and once they are ready they will look as if they are floating. Now you can turn them whichever way you please if one side is undercooked.

These are so delicious it makes me want to dance zumba for the wii.Crunchy on the outside, warm, soft and cheesy inside 😀 Definitely best enjoyed with your kids.
