With the availability of e-readers like the Kindle, Nook, iPAd and Kobo, many people are opting to feed their need for reading in a digital way. Sure they are convenient and light and is great especially for those on the go. The popularity of the tablets is also due to the matter of being green which is quite the trend nowadays. And there is no doubt that downloading digital books versus purchasing a printed copy is a more earth-friendly alternative. Yet I still prefer the traditional printed book for my reading pleasure .
There is something romantic and sentimental about holding either a fresh from the press book or a mysterious old and used copy. Besides, you need not always purchase the new prints especially when you are after the classics or say, reference books for school. I myself used to enjoy looking for college text books for sale online or at brick and mortar shops back when I was in the university. It saved me a lot of money and I delight on the fact that those used books have it’s own history and have educated many students before me. And I can always re-sell it after I finished with it or hand it down to my younger siblings like a universal life insurance.
The same goes for my recreational reading. If I’m feeling rather adventurous I’ll jump online to reliable bookshops selling used copies in good condition like Valore Books. They sell cheap so I always get more value for my money. And should I be lacking in funds, then I just head to my local library which has a good offering and gives a generous time for me to finish a novel or two. And the happy bit, borrowing is free.
