I first heard about Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for skin rejuvenation from Dra. Kaycee Reyes. PRP therapy is offered at her clinic, Luminisce that has branches in Bonifacio Global City and The Podium in Ortigas. PRP therapy is part of their Madonna Facial that costs P9,000+ but has everything that a woman in her 30s needs: deep cleansing, exfoliation, skin lifting, and rejuvenation. It was perfect because I would be traveling out of the country that time and will not have access to any dermatologist for 3 months!
The Luminisce Madonna Facial makes skin feel like a virgin. The relaxing multi-step and pain-free facial also includes microdermabrasion, radio frequency (RF), and light therapy on top of the PRP treatment for anti-aging.
The treatment starts with the collection of platelet-rich plasma from the blood. Don’t panic, it’s like a regular blood test and only Luminisce’s highly trained registered nurses will collect blood ever so gently and painlessly.
Plasma is separated from the blood’s component through centrifuge technology. It is proven to initiate skin repair at the cellular level. Within a few minutes, the plasma becomes available for application on the skin.
My main skin concerns are the loss of volume (plumpness), roughness (large pores), emerging laugh and frown lines (wrinkles). During the Madonna facial, I genuinely felt that all the steps were made to target these concerns – without ever injecting botox or fillers. I have nothing against synthetic injectables but I know that they can “metabolize” faster when a patient engages in exercise or working out which I tend to do a lot. Sometimes, you can’t have it all!
How is plasma infused onto the face? The application is usually via micro-injectors or Mesotherapy but for my Madonna facial, the plasma was infused with a relaxing cryotherapy device. It is completely painless and felt soothing cold to the skin.

My first PRP therapy for anti-aging was a pleasant experience without any downtime. I was able to fly out confidently the next day. For me, it’s important to look and feel good when traveling because you will face a lot of people from airport security, immigration officers, your relatives, and their friends. This is why I invested in this non-invasive treatment.
How about the results? Immediately after the treatment, my skin had a beautiful glow that you cannot fake with makeup. I felt and looked like inches of dead skin cells were removed from my face. For the very first time, I experienced what it was like to have “translucent skin”. Now I know what it really means and for me, it is when the more youthful, supple, and tout layer of your skin is revealed. Dead skin cells and impurities always make my skin look dull which for me, appears to have a gray color. The effect of the treatment lasted from 1-2 months since it is a facial that you have to regularly commit to every 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, during my 3-month stay in Australia – I had no access to Dra. Kaycee Reyes but I did bring with me my Luminisce skin regimen.
According to my research, best results from Plasma Rich Platelet therapy can be seen after 3 or more treatments. I also wonder if other methods of infusing plasma onto skin would yield even better results. BUT I am very happy with the results of my PRP facial at Luminisce, even after just 1 treatment. Just like my underarm whitening laser experience. This is why sometimes I become lax at taking care of my skin but I hope to change this and visit the doctor more often.
What did other people think? My family’s friends had a hard time telling my birth order! We are 3 sisters in the family and I am the middle child. We are all about 6-7 years apart and I am regularly mistaken as the youngest (this is from people who were meeting me for the first time). I don’t have a problem looking like a mom because I am, but I am fascinated every time that someone is surprised to know that I am already mother to an 8-year-old boy and that I don’t look like it.

Will I undergo PRP treatment again? My answer to that is I plan to consult the skin doctor again if it is the best treatment for me at this time. My skin is always changing and has varying needs, sometimes depending on my activities and even stress levels. Is your skin the same? PRP or the Madonna Facial was the right choice for me during that time because I wanted to look my best for myself and for the people I love. My skin felt dry and looked tired because it was a busy time for me. That said, PRP is best for anyone who wants to look and feel great instantly without the use of Botox and fillers but with similar results to those.
