Home and Living: Quick Escapes for Mommy and Baby

It is awesome how an 11 year old can always sweep stress off my face. I do sometimes miss the days when I was pregnant, lying around and growing my tummy or post-pregnancy when Ashton (very small then) and I spend 24 hours inside our air conditioned room, watching TV and feeding.

Times like these, Ashton is the perfect pill to cure the blues. I had him ready to be taken to the mall where we ate for comfort at Burger King. He was super behaved while mommy devoured a Junior Whopper, Karate Kid was the movie of the day and he was glued to the screen (and on the high chair). It was the perfect moment for the two of us after a day of hard work.

Here are other quick escapes for mommy and baby:

1. Catch some sun from the porch – sometimes we’re imprisoned in our homes doing chores or work, get a breather and snag some time with your bub outside. In the garden, porch, or patio. Level it up with a rocking chair you and your baby can easily sink into.

2. Eat together – for working moms, eating with the baby could be a luxury. Even if you are working from home. Schedule your break so you and your baby can enjoy snack time together, even for just 10-20 minutes. Forget chores or work for awhile and focus on your baby (and food!)

3. Bath tub time – do this when your hands are not that full. Water relaxes almost anyone instantly especially babies and toddlers. Have a fun rubber ducky time after work or weekends without the need to travel to an expensive resort. The bath tub is simply the perfect size for mommy and baby! 🙂

4. Cooking together – I personally love this. I put Ashton on his walker and he just walks around and watch me as I prepare dishes that both him and I can enjoy. Read: spaghetti which for me is the best calcium supplement. Cooking takes off stress from moms and the differing activity makes kids curious and excited.

5. Finally, shopping together! – whether it be on the mall or nearby store, I love shopping and buying things with Ashton. Though these days I have swapped shoes and clothes with vegetables and other grocery items, both of us seem to enjoy looking at plenty of items and strolling around.
